Introduction to Personal Learning Networks for Students

Dhaivyd Hilgendorf

12/12/11, 2:25 PM-3:15 PM
Greenway J

Personal Learning Networks connect students with the specialists in their areas of interest and study. Workshop participants are introduced to the structures and philosophies of connectivist pedagogy, followed by a discussion of how PLN development for students differs from that of professionals and special considerations for educational environments. While tools will be offered for initiating a PLN, time will not be allotted during the session for that purpose. See how students find and subscribe to blogs; create their own blogs and wikis and comment on those of others; communicate with experts and enthusiasts; and create projects based on their findings. BYOL or BYOD.
